UTM link builder for GA4
Tag every campaign link the same way, so Google Analytics 4 shows exactly which ad, post or email brought each visitor. Presets, a naming check and a bulk mode are built in.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Be12 Media.

What each UTM parameter means
- utm_source
- Where the visitor came from: google, facebook, instagram, newsletter. Required.
- utm_medium
- The type of traffic: cpc, paid_social, email, social, referral. Required. GA4 uses it to sort visitors into channels, so stick to standard values.
- utm_campaign
- The campaign name, for example diwali_sale_2026. Required.
- utm_term
- The paid keyword, mostly for search ads. Optional.
- utm_content
- Tells apart two links in the same campaign, such as two ad creatives or two buttons in one email. Optional.
- utm_id
- A campaign ID, useful if you import cost data into GA4. Optional.
UTM values are case sensitive in GA4: Facebook and facebook show up as two different sources. Keep everything lowercase and use underscores instead of spaces. Never add UTM tags to links inside your own website: they restart the visit and hide the original source.

Questions about the UTM Link Builder
Do I need UTM tags for Google Ads?
Usually not. If your Google Ads account is linked to GA4 and auto-tagging is on, Google adds its own gclid parameter and GA4 reads campaign details from it. Use UTM tags for Meta, LinkedIn, email, WhatsApp, QR codes and anything else Google cannot tag for you.
Which utm_medium values does GA4 understand?
GA4 groups traffic into default channels using the medium and source. Values like cpc, ppc or paid for search ads, paid_social for paid social, email for email, social for organic social and referral for partner sites map cleanly. Made-up values such as fbpost often land in the Unassigned channel.
Do UTM parameters affect SEO?
No, as long as you only use them on links placed outside your site, such as ads, emails and social posts. Search engines treat the tagged address as the same page when it has a correct canonical tag.
Is the link history private?
Yes. Your recent links are saved only in this browser on your device so you can reuse them. Nothing is sent to Be12 Media. Clear it any time with the Clear history button.
