How CPM is calculated

Formula
CPM = ad spend ÷ impressions × 1,000
Example
Spend 10,000 for 2,50,000 impressions: CPM = 40.

CPM rises with competition for the same audience, so it usually climbs around festivals and big sale days. A higher CPM is fine if the ad still brings leads at a cost you can afford.

Questions about the CPM Calculator

What affects CPM?

Audience size and competition, placement, season, ad quality and the campaign objective. Narrow, high-value audiences and peak sale periods cost more.

Is a low CPM always good?

No. Cheap impressions to the wrong people produce no leads. Judge campaigns on cost per lead or sale, and use CPM to understand why those costs move.

What is the difference between CPM and CPC?

CPM is what you pay for 1,000 impressions; CPC is what you pay for each click. CPC equals CPM divided by (10 × CTR in percent).
